Going by BEDMAS which is Brackets, Exponents, Division & Multiplication, Addition & Subtraction:

Step one — brackets. Answer what is in the brackets first, which is 7–5, equalling 2. Now you have 60÷5(2).

Step two — exponents. There are no exponents, so moving on.

Step three — division & multiplication. Neither has priority, so do it in the order the question is written. So first, 60 ÷ 5, which equals 12. Now the question is 12(2). When there is no sign in between a number and a set of brackets, that means multiplication, so do 12 × 2, which equals 24.

Step four would be addition & subtraction, in which neither has priority, but there isn’t any left, so your final answer is 24.



However, look at the following:

The answer is 24. Here is how you get it.

Remember BEDMAS for order of math operations

1.B = Brackets

2.E = Exponents

3.D = Division

M = Multiplication

4.A = Addition

S = Subtraction

Those numbers above matter though. Division doesn’t always solve before multiplication. They are both the 3rd order, so solve left to right. The same applies to addition and subtraction, both are 4th order so solve left to right.

60 / 5 x (7–5) =
