Tweet from football finance expert Kieran Maguire this morning

“Biggest historic losses in a single season in the National League have been
Stockport County 2022 £4.8 million
Salford City 2019 £3.3m
Wrexham 2022 £2.9m”

If and when Wrexham and Stockport get promoted, their losses in league one and the clown car crash that is the Championshi are going to spiral.
How long before the owners get bored with chucking money down the shunkey?

Shows how difficult it is to provide a competitive budget these days with so many big spenders in L2.
FGR didn't even make the top 3 for single season losses in the National League, add to them the likes of Bradford, MKD and Wimbledon etc.

Middlesbrough fans criticising owner Steve Gibson!
Middlesbrough FC had huge liabilities of £190 million at 30 June 2023, but owner Steve Gibson then wrote off £148m owed to him. he’s also put in £90m via shares.
£238 million has been given the club by him, currently 10th in the Championship, although they have spent time in the Premier League and got spanked by Us!
Ryan and Ronnie at Wrexham better get used to chucking money in and getting pelters when they get dicked by Rotherham at Cae Ras.

Thanks - FYI to all those who think HJ is in it for the 'profit' or indeed adulation - who'd own a football club eh?

HJ (The football club) has a very good chance of making a profit this year. However, I don't think it is year on year profits that he is looking at. If he is looking to make a profit it will be buy increasing the value of the club by progression through the leagues. Now if he can get us as far as the Champioship or further cheaply he may be able to find someone willing to buy the shares we are about to gift him for a handsome profit.

That's absolutely the plan. And why years ago I was saying that for a relatively small investment (for your millionaire) there were possible profits to be made. Decent training facilities would attract players that previously may have turned County down, investment in Academy (with achievable plan on how to grow it) and plan for new stadium...

But your not Wrexham anymore. Your Disney Inc.

You've sold your soul, as we probably would given the chance.

But you need to understand that our wishy washy locals aren't coming to see Wrexham, they are coming to see the County beat Disney Inc.

Go soccer go.......
What an odd way to say thank you.

When did we change the club name?

Going by your logic you'll soon be Jenkins FC. Don't spend any money either as that will mean you've sold your soul.
Ok I wouldn’t get too upset by the lack of gratitude😂 i realise you’re having a bit of fun with the wind up but it’s not the first time we’ve filled the place in recent years!
Hoping for a good game at the Parade, let’s hope it graces this division in skill and excitement. Like us you’ve always had a dedicated supporter core to get you through the bad times ( luckily for you your base is a bit bigger ).Enjoy the good times and try to be a little humble, just continue to hope the Yank celebs don’t lose interest in the soccer ball when you’re up the leagues and not winning every week.
Not sure what to expect from the game as we can be poor away from home (See Stockport, Walsall away games) or we can turn up and have a right go. I would suggest the latter as its a derby. Plus we've got a load of injured players back now too.

Honestly a lot of fans are humble and aside from some loud mouths online, mainly young idiots, those of use who've been supporting the club since way before R&R came to town (early 90s for me) are just enjoying it.
But other fans don't fully get it, and why would you, but there is no reason to suggest they aren't in it for the long term.
Actions speak louder than words and for club owners this is the real test.
They have delivered everything they said they would and much more. They are the owners you dream about so far.

I don't believe they are funding the club to the tune people think they are. With our sponsors, pre season money making tour (that's all it was, in terms of preparing the squad it failed badly), etc etc the club is in a much better place than last season. I think what will happen if we get to the Championship is that they will have other investor lined up. But Ryan Reynolds is worth serious money alone so no one is worried in the slightest.
Me, i'd be happy with top end League One with the occasional trip to the Championship. Don't care for getting to the Prem one bit. Especially with the rancid football killing VAR in place. No thanks.

Had a real ding dong of a row with a Wrexham fan the other day, jokingly called them a 'glory hunter' - they went mad and said 'how dare you! I've been a loyal fan of my club for 2 and a half years!'...

What wxm80s and fans of some other clubs forget is that football is a fickle beast and the millions, the adoration, media love ins and a bunch of new 'loyal' fans come and go - I don't begrudge Wrexham their moment in the limelight nor the glory hunters (of both teams) wishing to watch them play us but smugness as a football fan can come back and bite you in the backside.
I completely agree my friend. My post is of course light hearted and not serious. But you have to enjoy the ride. Like you did when that lottery winner paid for your promotion.
Looking forward to the self-entitlement express chuntering into Newport Station on Saturday as part of your L2 victory lap. BTW been reading some posts online that you boys think you're in with a serious chance of signing Arthur Okonkwo. You're off your rockers if you think that's going to happen. He's got to be worth £5-10M already and good enough to play for a Champ or lower third PL team.
Yeah its unlikely but everyone would've said that before we signed Mullin. People in the know are saying we are. How do you know better?
He isn't worth anywhere near that btw - he's out of contract in six months time.

Sorry Jorge Mendes. If you sign him then FairPlay. He’s the best keeper I’ve seen in the flesh for a long time and whilst I’ve not doubt you’ll end up being mired in Championship obscurity in *no time at all he’s good enough to play at the top level now.

I don’t think Mullin is the best comparison as he wasn’t playing for a Prem club at the time he sold his soul for thirty pieces of silver.

Basically, never fall in love with a loan player….(I might have been a little off with my valuation).

I think that’s a sensible attitude and would be mine also. As far as the County are concerned, I’d like the same as you but done via building up the academy and bringing our own lads through. Problem is that owners and managers ( not to mention fans 😂 ) are impatient.
