The tie against Manchester United means that there are 2 clubs from the Current Premier League and EFL whom we have never played in a competitive match.
When HJ and GC takes up to the Big Time, we can sell out Anfield and Villa Park and join Bradford City, Northampton, Port Vale and Swindon who have played the other 91.
Re: Only leaves Aston Villa and Liverpool left to play
2We played Aston Villa in the 1945/46 season in the Football League South. Admittedly it was a "on-off" season after the war but the matches were competitive. We lost 5-2 at Villa Park on 19th December and we lost 4-0 3 days later at Somerton Park. These 2 matches were followed with 2 against Arsenal on Christmas Day and Boxing Day (both defeats). We finished 21st out of 22 teams.Athletico Lovells wrote: January 17th, 2024, 11:21 am The tie against Manchester United means that there are 2 clubs from the Current Premier League and EFL whom we have never played in a competitive match.

That is quite surprising that we have avoided playing Stoke in cup competitions for 112 years. Also they have been mainly a top flight/second tier team in their history.
Next thread title - which team have we played the most!

I reckon it’s Exeter City. We have actually played current Premier League denizens Luton, Bournemouth and Brentford on many occasions.
