I caught a bus into town today and the first conversation I overheard was concerning a certain cup game . Similarly on my return journey, I sat opposite two elderly women 1st woman “ I’m not religious but I’m praying they get a goal or even better a draw “ 2nd woman “ yes the money would come in handy! “.
Reminded me of the cup fever I was told about as a kid concerning our tie away to Pompey, my mother told me that when county scored, assorted vegetables went up in the air in Newport Market in a tumult of celebration
Re: Talk of the town
2I don't live in Newport anymore, despite my username. I live in Treorchy now. Walked into the local boozer to a round of applause (mostly from Bluebirds). Had six people ask me if I can get them tickets. This game matters!
Re: Talk of the town
3Has Treorchy got a hill?
I remember as a hairy Art student walking up Stow Hill ,newspaper out in front of me and walked straight into a lamppost

6Indeed it is. Hopefully the Council will start to consider the economic benefits of a successful football team and get behind us.CathedralCounty wrote: January 18th, 2024, 4:55 pm Its a great boost for the city at a rubbish time of year.
