4I referee games in England and the sin bin is an excellent tool for officials and, probably, for clubs also.
It can only be used for dissent (so not for fouls, abusive language etc) but the yellow card gets shown and the ref points to the touch line and they go off (and their side down to 10 men) for 10mins.
Player comes back on, usually apologises and his head is sorted for the remainder of the game. Player or club don’t get any fine so it’s a useful deterrent.
