Newport County AFC are delighted to announce that midfielder Robbie Willmott has penned an extension to his contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2023.
Robbie has been an key player for the Exiles this season, making 27 appearances in League Two and scoring three times this campaign to date.
This is Robbie's second spell at the club, with his initial period seeing him be a key part of our return to the Football League in 2013.
He returned to Rodney Parade in 2017 and was part of the side that reached two League Two Play-Off Finals as well as our famous FA Cup runs which saw us come up against the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham.
On Robbie signing his new deal, County manager James Rowberry said: “I’m delighted that Robbie has agreed to extend terms with us and I’m looking forward to continuing what we are trying to achieve."

2This is great news - Robbie is reliable, versatile and a good club servant. Well done Robbie and the board.

Re: Robbie Willmott extends County contract
4Great news,Robbie has been consistent this season so no surprise that he has been offered it and no surprise that he has signed it.During his spell away from the club he did say that he would walk from Essex to Newport if he thought we wanted him back because he had enjoyed it here.
Re: Robbie Willmott extends County contract
5Robbie excellent news I met him once said I didn't have enough tickets to get mytwo boys in for a match he offered me his 2 what a gent and still does a job for us cmon robbie getthat cross in the play off final that telford buries and we are in div 3 or league 1 as they call it now
Re: Robbie Willmott extends County contract
6This is great news, but I want to see him flying down the wing again, not papering over our defensive frailties at the back.
Re: Robbie Willmott extends County contract
7Amazing the board extends his contract until he's 33, but JR plays Onthe Dolan?
Great to see there is some folding that thinks ahead, but sign some young players too. Could Azaz become permanant or is that too expensive and therefor risky?
Robbie for a year without youth around him isn't worth a sot.

8Good move on Robbie, probably an easy deal to conclude
I can easily imagine Azaz in the Championship next season.

Azaz only signed for Villa in the summer from West Brom, so no chance. Probably go on loan to a higher league

11JR said there are Championship clubs eyeing Azaz … think that was his way of saying “we got no fooking chance”.
Appreciate he changed clubs in the Summer but I find it strange he didn’t go back to Cheltenham to try Lge 1?

Re: Robbie Willmott extends County contract
13Great news, close to 300 games for us, he'll do well in league 1 if we go up.
Re: Robbie Willmott extends County contract
14Shouldn't the message from the 'board' now 'trust' same thing: unfortunately; be; yes we've extented a versatile fit 32yr old, but our real target is a 20 yr old who Gerrard see's as exspendable. We offerr ...and then get creative.
Do a deal with Villa to become a sort of feeder club. That sort of thing, above board realistic. Cain and Cooper too but Azaz is that sort of difference.

Re: Robbie Willmott extends County contract
15I can't see Azaz staying but he has definitely developed which is great for the player and the club.
Actually all the young players have developed so credit to both MF and JR the first for getting them to the club and the second for sticking to his process and style from which all, the players are benefitting from.
I think JR sticking to his beliefs is massive because it says to prem/championship clubs, this is how we play and this is how we will develop your players.
The process is working.
