Was he still in Delaney's pocket when he was kicked ?JonD wrote: January 21st, 2024, 10:02 am When Mullin took an accidental kick in the face from Bennett in the second half I expected some drama, but in fairness to him he just got on with the game.
Re: Grandstand: Newport County AFC versus Wrexham AFC
32Response on the Wrexham forum mostly says how terrible they were, but also qualify that by saying we were 'dire'.
Don't see how they can claim the sending off was harsh. It was just terrible technique by Boyle. He was going to be first to the ball and if he had stayed on two feet, he was likely to be on the receiving end of a late challenge (and won a free kick). He opted for self protection and went into the challenge on his arse with his foot playing the ball then rising higher with studs up.

33And that was a fabulous goal, evocative of Kevin Keegan v Dino Zoff circa 1980s.
Wrexham's keeper was a big unit, so to see him beaten in the top corner was a delicious sight.

34OK, just looked at it again and maybe because of Boyle's poor touch, he wouldn't have necessarily won the ball, but, if on his feet, it would probably have been a 50/50 challenge which he was perfectly entitled to make.
Re: Grandstand: Newport County AFC versus Wrexham AFC
35I thought the ref and his lineos where excellent, It's nice to see them working as a team both lineos made calls and the ref consulted with them.
Re: Grandstand: Newport County AFC versus Wrexham AFC
36The laws of the game change every season . You can now be sent off even if you don't make contact with the opposition player if the challenge made is deemed 'Dangerous and the player is not in control '
IMO that's what the challenge was , even though GC said our player was caught and has stud marks to prove he was. It was a dangerous challenge even if he hadn't had made contact with McCloughlan. Warranted a RED CARD...studds up challenge.

Re: Grandstand: Newport County AFC versus Wrexham AFC
37Question: those seated in the north stand - are the seats allocated/numbered or is it a free for all?
Re: Grandstand: Newport County AFC versus Wrexham AFC
38It was a sending off. Tackles like that have ended careers.
The reason many Wrexham fans believe it was not a sending off is because many Wrexham fans are as myopic about Wrexham as many Newport fans are myopic about Newport or Lincoln fans about Lincoln, Stenhousemuir fans are about Stenhousemuir, etc, etc, etc, ad nausium.

Re: Grandstand: Newport County AFC versus Wrexham AFC
42Doesn't mean it won't be a free for all. I'd suggest getting in reasonably early to avoid those just wanting the best seat, or to sit with their mates.
Re: Grandstand: Newport County AFC versus Wrexham AFC
43Thanks! Iāve got tickets that say ānorth terrace - terracingā but then with a number (which might be a seat number). Wanted to figure out whether the club have just added the stand to the north terrace in the system or whether itās separated on the ticket.excessbee wrote: January 21st, 2024, 10:16 pm Doesn't mean it won't be a free for all. One of the people Iām going with will not be able to stand for the whole match.
