IIRC, that season '48/'49 was reputedly the highest season for football attendances.
I think I remember reading there was some 81,000 at Old Trafford for a match against Yeovil.

Sure we played Spurs in early 50's and lost 4-0 or maybe 1

I was at the Dell as well. Shouldn't have omitted that one. Gerald King equalised with a penalty. His boot came off when taking penalty and Saints keepers saved his boot but not the ball.

My first three County away games, were at Burnley 63/4 , Reading 64/5, and Southampton 67/8......Treasured memories......

Once League Cup and once FA Cup IIRC. I had a signed Everton ball from one of those matches around the time they were champions. Played with it in the rain. Kids are stupid.
