Agree.

Governments have a vested interest in keeping the population scared.
I put this up so that everyone can see one simple fact. That being:

I was wrong.

As the facts changed I changed my mind. I did not hold to the idea that we should carry on regardless. I opposed as strongly as I could the idea we should be allowed to go to football matches. And I really was annoyed that the chairman of our football club should sign a letter on behalf of our club calling for fans to be allowed into stadia. More shameful that he has not had the grace to admit his lapse of judgement and withdraw our support.

However I ask again. With 108,000 people now dead, can those who have supported the fans to be allowed to go to football matches either join me in admitting error or at least tell me how many they are prepared to kill in order that they can go back to the football?

Your still not getting it more people are contracting the virus in supermarkets

You don't get it out doors

So close supermarkets and let people stand on terraces safely

People have to eat Jim. They don't have to go to football matches. The idea that you don't get the virus out of doors is codswallop. That it is easier to catch it in doors does not mean you can't catch it out of doors.

Why have you chosen to hijack this thread when you've already posted this on the Letter To Mark Drakeford thread?

The assumption that people have some kind of acceptable quota of deaths is as offensive as it is irrational, as if it was a devilish demand to watch sport whilst trampling over the dying and the dead.

The letter was written at a time when fans were being allowed in to sporting events elsewhere in the UK - as realistic, reasonable action to ensure that the profile and interests of all sport in Wales was maintained at the Welsh Assembly level.

It didn't happen and it won't happen for the foreseeable future. People know that and except it..

Guilt and penance is best left in religion...........not for the general sporting public.

From what I know / have heard, covid is an airborne virus so it can be transmitted outdoors (in relatively close distance for a period of time) and from touching some infected surfaces etc. But I don’t think the virus lingers for long outdoors (less so in warmer weather).

But the crowds at Cheltenham, Anfield etc in outdoor sporting events a year ago clearly led to a rapid transmission of earlier forms of covid so Stan is correct in his thinking, although my non-scientific hunch is you stand a much higher chance of contracting covid meeting an infected person indoors compared to outdoors.

Yes, it is now appreciated by most that SARS-COV-2, the coronavirus responsible for covid-19, is principally transmitted aerially. The virus will contaminate surfaces and it can be picked up from that source, but in real-world situations the virus is only likely to last around 1 to 2 hours max on a surface before becoming inactive. So it is still important to pay attention to hand hygiene.

Inside or outside, proximity to an infected person and length of time in proximity to an infected person are the overriding contributors to infection transmission. Inside, there tends to be less ventilation and less movement of virus particles away from the source of infection. So it can hang around for longer and infect more people.

The last info I saw on how long it could survive in air in aersol form was about 3 hours.

This is why masks are important. This is why distance is important. And this is why time spent near people is important.

When to wear your mask?

Inside: as directed by local and national guidelines/laws, always.

Outside? I've been guided by my ample nose.

Pass a smoker in the street, or a heavily perfumed person. Can you smell their volatiles output when many metres away from them? Yes! Wear a mask.

Watch a person's breath distribution patterns on a cold day. Does the breathing output spread far and wide? Yes! Wear a mask.

Stay at home unless you really, really, really need to go out. Simple. Giving crowds a pass for at least another 12-14 weeks is my intention. I will be fairly well fully protected by my second vax by then.

Very sound advice here imho. I’d like to add that passing someone coming towards you walking or passing someone while overtaking them walking is not the same as an encounter with a runner, jogger or cyclist . I’d rather leave rather more than a couple of metres when close to somebody exercising and/or breathing heavily. Oh! And wear the best mask recommended, at the moment ffp2 ( with a European kite mark ) for us not working in healthcare, leave the very best for them.

It’s no wonder not all the public have cooperated with the lockdown ( though the majority have of course ) . Too many politicians and establishment figures think and act like the rules don’t apply to them.
Yep the bloke is an utter ****
Remind me how Wales is getting on with the vaccine program under its Marxist leader?

League tables suggest Wales is now top of the vaccinations pro rata league compared with the other UK nations.
But we all know how relatively quickly league tables can change.
Back to the topic question however, I'm hopeful, but not certain, for the beginning of next season. League 2 I predict.
Given the likelihood of the virus still being in circulation, I do wonder if it will negatively impact on attendances ?

Presume that would exclude all of the current squad, with the exception of Ellison. Must be due his first before the end of the season?

I saw Wrexham FC have been given a £100K supporters survival grant by the Welsh Govt today (source BBC Sport) so I assume County have received something similar?

The Welsh Gov support scheme was for non-league / Welsh League clubs, so no. But I'd far rather be in Div 4 than the Conference, so I don't begrudge them.
