I think that difficulty which may arise is this. Most of us don't switch bank accounts or electricity suppliers, even though better deals are available. In short we are creatures of habit. Notwithstanding that watching games via the internet is not allowed in the UK or Ireland, it is available for overseas fans. And it is easily accessed within the UK.

Once people get used to watching games via the internet, many people will not return to attending live football. Cinema is a precedent for this. Star Wars is far better on the big screen but most people have only watched it on the television. Think on this for a while. It is a cold miserable day in January. You can shell out £100 to take yourself and with your daughter and son in law to drive to Newport or for a tenner you can plug your computer lead into your 56 inch flat scream TV and all watch the game in front of a roaring fire. I'm not being critical of anyone here, but as you say the times they are a changing.

That’s a very good point. While as someone pointed out there is no substitute for a match day out with friends and/or family with perhaps a drink or two for those reaching a great age or who are not in the best of health iFollow is a good alternative. It’s madness not to take their shilling. Newport County TV is coming!

I don't attend matches at the moment because I am avoiding crowds because I am exceptionally vulnerable to Covid because of ill health. But I see every league game home or away by using a VPN when necessary.

Does the club still get revenue when a VPN is used? I use audio only at the moment for games I can't get to, but would use the video option - but only if I knew the club was still getting its cut.

Yes they do, but as it is 10 Euro instead of £10 it would be proportionally less.

Obviously better if it goes to the County, but even if the opposition benefit, then at least it is used on improving the standard of our league, rather than the premiership.
