In the semi she's kicking ass at the moment, cruising the first set, though Sakkari having a bit of a 'mare. It's surprising how often the women's matches can switch momentum between players. Let's hope not on this occasion.

She was asked a few more questions in the second set but the girl done good, as they say.

Reaching the final has the added benefit of confirming her millionaire status, though that was a formality.

Indeed. She has done well.

The riches that are showered on top-level pro tennis players are of course astronomical, but these riches bring with them a heavy burden of pressure to perform to a very high standard, around the world, throughout the year. It puts a great strain on the bodies and minds of the players. Watching this young woman, before our very eyes, being catapulted from A levels to A list felt somewhat surreal.

Nice touch that she wears Romanian colours on court. I like that very much. It looks good too.
