The info I was given was right then.
If it was known within the club why the **** have they allowed him to carry on??
Re: Flynn gone
17Genuinely gutted at this. To have stability at this club for the last few years has been welcome after decades of uncertainty. Thank you Mike for the cup runs, the play off finals, the money in the bank and potentially saving this club from bankrupcy along with relegation back to non league. Let's hope those calling for his head recently are right and it doesn't bite them in the arse. I'm very unsure, especially with Hatswell stepping in. If Flynn has ripped up his contract then there is money there to spend on bringing someone else in. So let's do it.
Please can nobody start the 'bring Pipey back' campaign. Yes he's passionate, but he's not a football manager.

Re: Flynn gone
18I’m very disappointed to see Flynn go. If you’ve been a long suffering County fan like me you recognise just how significant the achievements under Flynn have been. Even prior to being manager he was a significant contributor to the team that took us back into the league. Ashurst was got rid of far too quickly and, in the week that he passed away, another Newport County manager is leaving his post far too early.
Re: Flynn gone
19There comes a point when any manager starts to run out of ideas and this has been coming, but we owe him an enormous debt of gratitude.
It's only fair to give Hatswell first dibs but I'd worry if Michael recharges his batteries, covid hasn't helped, and takes another job - maybe something unforeseen will happen to Joey Barton in a few weeks - he'll want him there.

Re: Flynn gone
20Fantastic manager and I wish him luck in the future.
If I'm reading it correctly, he will be in the dugout tomorrow. I don't think that he should be as he has stated his intention to leave.
Tomorrow's game is about Newport County not Michael Flynn and his attendance is a distraction.
Probably not a popular opinion and I feel a bit mean but hey ho.

Re: Flynn gone
21Maybe, but Newport County owe Michael Flynn a tremendous debt of gratitude for what he's done in the last four and a half years. Without Flynny there would probably be no Newport County, or at best we would be languishing in non-league football struggling to pay the bills.Free beer wrote:Fantastic manager and I wish him luck in the future.

Re: Flynn gone
22I’m genuinely confused about this on many levels. From the ‘cowardly’ comments last week, to some in the know saying he would be gone by end of Sept and his unwillingness to commit himself after the play offs.
Even now, apparently he is going after Saturdays game. I am hard pressed to think of a manager saying that he is going after the next game whilst under contract. Very, very confusing for me. I wish him good luck though. Great manager for the club.

23Same here Mike it's very confusing it's not saying he's quit I'm reading he's just taking a breakpembsexile wrote:I’m genuinely confused about this on many levels. Re: Flynn gone
24Regardless of the lack of information it's a poor reflection on the Administration and a clear statement from the Board should be warranted pretty quickly
Re: Flynn gone
25Thankyou Mike for the last 4 1/2 years in which we have had some brilliants highs and very few lows, but mainly for turning around the club after the Butcher -> Westley era.

Re: Flynn gone
26Swansea's manager Cooper left in similar(ish) circumstances. When he subsequently took the Forest(?) job Swansea received compensation. I'd hope therefore that this happens for Flynn.
Re: Flynn gone
28Can someone enlighten me as to how it became an ‘open secret’ that he was going at the end of September? Where did that information come from, and why was that apparently so nailed on since before the season even began?

29Whenever there is a major bust up behind the scenes it's always in someone's interest to leak the information.halfmoon wrote:Can someone enlighten me as to how it became an ‘open secret’ that he was going at the end of September? Re: Flynn gone
30This is what I find so confusing. If it was such a poorly kept secret I'm assuming the players were aware? And you'd also like to think that since this was so inevitable that a replacement has already been lined up...halfmoon wrote:Can someone enlighten me as to how it became an ‘open secret’ that he was going at the end of September? I would agree with some previous posts that the Board need to issue a statement sharpish to clarify what is actually going on. Has he resigned, been sacked, going to another club, who's taking charge in the interim, whats the plan for the rest of the season etc.
I'm really gutted he's going to be honest. The many highs over the last few seasons far outweigh the relatively few lows. If nothing else he saved us from the wilderness of non-league when we were truly out for the count. For those fans who've wanted him gone, I hope they're proved right. But I would urge anyone to have a look at our list of managers over the last ten years, for every Michael Flynn and Justin Edinburgh there's an Anthony Hudson, Graham Westley, Terry Butcher, Warren Feeney etc. etc.
