17I went to that game!North London Exile wrote: June 3rd, 2022, 3:49 pmI'm very torn over this fixture as my father grew up in Newport and my mother in Lviv (Lwow as it then was).phil_in_npton wrote: June 2nd, 2022, 8:37 am Good Morning!
I am surprised there are no thoughts and comments with reference to this game on Sunday! I know itās a club forum, but is the national team not closely linked in fans eyes?
As a 60/40 neutral I would love to see Wales qualify and witness the fervour and excitement of the World Cup for Wales. That must rub off on Welsh clubs all over.
So over to you guysā¦ are you going to the game? Do you feel the world wide sympathy for Ukraine is a great burden to overcome?

It was the only match I watched at the Millennium Stadium (2001), which ended 1-1. I got to see Giggs and Shevchenko.
This time I'm going for Wales as Ukraine have qualified once for the World Cup finals since independence, and Wales have neither qualified (since 1958) nor gained independence.
Re: Wales v Ukraine
18At least losing to Ukraine will feel a lot less painful than losing to any other team and means we wonāt have to take part in the World Cup in Qatar that said Iām hoping for a Wales win of course!
Re: Wales v Ukraine
20Wales firm favourites according to the bookies for this one. 31/20. I donāt get that. Scotland were favourites too. Look what happened there. The professional punters will be making a mint out of this one. Ukraine 2/1. If I wasnāt Welsh I would be having some of that. Crazy.
Re: Wales v Ukraine
21We are not as good as we think we are, qualifying for the past few euros and a suspiciously high ranking do not make Wales a great team and no doubting Ukraine will be a big challenge (I say that as a massive Wales fan btw)
Re: Wales v Ukraine
22How good do we think we are?
I donāt know any Welsh fans who think weāre something special, just a good, hard working side.

24Hennessey is MOM at half time for me. Ramsey keeps giving ball away in dangerous positions. James could get himself sent off. I would take James off, push Ramsey forward and bring on a more defensive midfielder.
Re: Wales v Ukraine
25Wales are very sloppy with the ball. I agree, James needs to come off. The ref seems to be fully involved in the sympathy theme.
Re: Wales v Ukraine
26Ukraine deffo on top. Donāt care how we score though as long as they go in.

Exactly that. Will our luck hold for another half? Let's hope so.

30Yes yes yes yes!

Have rarely praised Hennesey previously, but a mom display today
