We’re looking forward to being back in action in the coming weeks.
We are no longer affiliated with Newport County Trust but we are still a pub for the fans by the fans.
We will be Newport’s first not for profit pub. Run by eight fans. Any profit made in year one will go back into making the pub better for the second year and so on.
The reception so far has been good - we will need your support to make it work.
See you soon 👍

I think that the not for profit basis makes a lot of sense, it's difficult to start a pub business, and make a profit. It's taken County a long time to be making a profit, albeit small, having had such a difficult starting point.
County ran the King and the Ivy Bush without making much of a profit, due to the proximity of rival pubs.

Weird Dad, near the ground, is a similar not for profit business. Hopefully Baramber will also be a success story, I wish them all the very best.

Welsh Water are a not for profit business, IE they don't have shareholders expecting a dividend payment. Doesn't stop them employing contractors who would have shareholders. So any profit that is made largely gets invested back into infrastructure - replaceing network pipes - or the business generally.
I guess in the case of Baramber, it will be run with volunteers until it can function profitably.

Yes it can.

Some terms are legally protected but you'd be amazed just what you can get away with. By way of example if you claim to be a barrister, and you have not been called to the bar by one of the four Inns of Court, you commit a criminal offence. However you can call yourself a lawyer without any qualification and that's perfectly permissible.
