It's refreshing to have a politician that tells the truth and explains her faith personally I'm with her on a lot of things

That actually Jim is the problem with politics. If people tell the truth then they become unelectable. Whether I agree with her or not is immaterial. She has a view on the meaning of marriage. She is not homophobic. That her view that marriage should be reserved for being between a man on a woman is not one I agree with. It would not prevent me from voting for her.

Agreed - and very illuminating that its fair game when its a Christian expressing such beliefs/views.

I was always led to believe that Politicians represented their constituents, Or am I wrong ?

As an example........If 80% of constituents had a view on something that was going to effect them but the Politician didnt have the same views and voted against it...are they not doing their job correctly ?

If constituents vote for someone who is with one Political Party then something happens that the Politician disagrees with and they decide to change Political Parties isnt that letting their constituents down ? I know you can vote them out at the next General Election but if it happened just after the vote for the person your stuck with them and a Party you didnt vote for ?

I agree that its good she sticks to her beliefs but did the people who voted her in know her stance and would it have influenced their vote ?

You can't please all your constituency Neil with every decision, If say for example you have a vote to have free beer on a Friday night that would upset some say tea totalers

Votes like abortion are a free vote anyway an MP can vote with their belief

Some things are matters of conscience though and in any case much of Kate Forbes views especially on gender would be broadly mainstream in Scotland - its been the 'political classes' in Scotland who have ridden roughshod over the majority of Scots views.

Yes Neil on this occasion you are wrong. An MP represents his or her constituency but is not a delegate. Their job is vote and to represent issues on the part of their constituents. Clearly no MP will be able to agree 100% with all or even a majority of their constituents much of the time. Come an election they put up their record and if you think on balance they have done a good job you vote for them, if you think on balance they haven't then you vote for someone else.
