Re: Exiles Grandstand: Crewe away
76As our game is based on a high energy, high press approach, GC should have made wholesale changes when we scored the 4th goal on Saturday. Then we would have had more left in the tank in the 2nd half last night.
I see your point. Contrary to that they did have three days to recover and weren't by accounts at full throttle in the second half v Doncaster. My view is that it's impossible to keep a high press full on for 90 minutes.Blackandamber wrote: August 16th, 2023, 8:18 am As our game is based on a high energy, high press approach, GC should have made wholesale changes when we scored the 4th goal on Saturday. I see your point. Maybe 3 days isn't long enough for them to recover when they play the high press game. Maybe they weren't at full throttle in the 2nd half against the yorkies because they were running on empty. Using subs earlier on Saturday would have got the new men up to speed earlier.Stan A. Is that a bit like Saturday when talking about Morris' cut to the head and he said it was only a nick and he had had worse nicks shaving, also the bandage was only put on to hold his brain in?I read into GC's post presser that he thinks Jameson needs to man-up a little with his injury.
See Evans goal totally differently. The goalie clearly clattered into Evans who was off the ground and directly under the ball. legitimate goal and clear foul by the keeper IMO.Chepstow'sFine wrote: August 16th, 2023, 11:19 am At least the ref was consistent by not giving them a pen in the first few mins but allowing the Evans goal to stand. I think it's 50/50 whether that was a foul from the Welsh Harry Kane.

I was surprised that he allowed it, not because I didn't think it was a goal but because you usually get penalised for breathing near the goalkeeper nowadays. Plus the referee didn't seem keen on giving anything in County's favour throughout the game...OLDCROMWELLIAN wrote: August 16th, 2023, 2:00 pmSee Evans goal totally differently. Appears like keepers have become untouchable and able to committ fouls outfield players can't.
Sorry to quote myself but it appears that once again I was right. I do so wish people would listen to me a bit more often, and not listen to those who disagree with me.Stan A. Einstein wrote: August 15th, 2023, 10:09 pmJust a thought. Teams tend to be more cagey first half. Signs on Saturday that the high tempo press can't be kept up for 90 minutes. I wonder would a better plan be to be far more negative for 45 mins and turn on the high press after half time?owlsabout wrote: August 15th, 2023, 9:59 pm Ran out of steam second half .pressed really well first half looks like it took it out of us couldn't get close to them after the break
