Regarding yesterday there's only one person to blame GC look at the stats Crawley played off the park. I admit I'm not a fan of his but he's either seething or moaning. I briefly looked back to the early part of last season, we were not leaking goals, losing by the odd goal, and when analysed it was through mainly defensive blunders, but thought the football was better we certianly had more of the play, I still believe JR would have sorted it and we would be better off and a playing structure being put in place.
In my day as a 17 yr old inside right the manager was constantly drumming it into us to let the ball do the work (lowandhard has stated this in his comment). GC's method involves little football just charging around the pitch. Even FGR had more of the play then we did and if the had decent striker we would have lost.

In my view Coughlan knows we don't have the money to be competitive in League 2. That is not his fault.

He has therefore worked out a tactic to survive. In terms be really fit, press the opposition, stop them playing, take our chances from limited possession. That is very much to Coughlan's credit. With him in charge we will survive. I loved what Rowberry was trying to do but playing football when you haven't got and can't afford footballers would have seen us relegated.

To be critical of Coughlan. Sustaining a high press for 90 minutes is very, very difficult. To sustain a high press in a heat wave of 32 degrees centigrade is impossible. As it appears Coughlan will at the very least have discovered yesterday.

This is right imo. I’d also add that I think it’s a mistake to “ thrash them in training “ at this time. The time for that was pre-season - they’ll get plenty of game time from now on. What I’d do is practice defensive drilling, forward moves, free kicks and shooting practice!

So if the rules are different for non league, and say Maxted and Townsend collided in training and were both injured, could we recall Day?

And if so is it easier now he is playing at National League South level?

I believe we can recall Day from his loan as he is playing in non league.
