An open letter to Jon Pratt.

Dear Jon Pratt,

Forgive me for writing to you via this board but I don't know either your address or email address and I'm informed you read this board.

I should say right at the outset that I have an agenda. That being the best possible outcome for Newport County. It therefore follows that knowing that there are two bids on the table to take effective control of our club that if, as now appears likely, the dream of fan ownership is over, I would want the bid that offers the best future for Newport County to succeed. Those two bids are led respectively by yourself and Mr Huw Jenkins.

As I have seen neither bid, clearly I can't take a view on which one I would prefer. Neither can those entitled to vote on the matter. And I feel, and am far from alone in that feeling, that all Trust members should see the details of both bids.

I learn today that the preferred bidder of the incumbent board of Newport County will address the Special General Meeting on 28th September. Clearly therefore to communicate that information the said board will have needed to have checked the availability of the preferred bidder for the 28th September. So unless you have received communication to be on the red-eye out of Miami on Thursday week, I can confirm that you lost.

Or maybe not. If you believe your bid is a good one. If you believe your bid is better than that of Mr Jenkins you really need now to be proactive. You're a board member of the club. Come out fighting. Let the supporters know what it is you have to offer. Even if it's not your usual style, being reserved is not option.
Pen a piece for the Argus. Write on here. As a director of Newport County go on the 28th September and bloodly well make sure your voice is heard.

If by any chance Mr Huw Jenkins reads this, the If having seen both offers I thought Mr Jenkins'offer was better than that of yours I'd say so. I'm not taking sides, I do want both sides to be heard.

County 'til I die and all that.

Sincerely yours,

Stan aka Brendan

Clearly you cannot take a view on which one you prefer, and you won't have a vote to make that view count...........

A man of letters, it's like time stopped in 1989, and disgruntled of Newport, writing to the Times..................

Stan is pointless person, who has posted a pointless letter pretending that he is actually doing something. He isn't, he is not an achiever, he doesn't achieve anything.

Letter writing to papers disappeared when you could publish your comments directly on a forum.

Stan likes letters, like vowels which he uses a lot. Ay, Ee, I, You, and Why? But particularly I, that's his favourite vowel......................

I agree, it’s not complicated is it ? Just compare offers and if as it seems we must, go with the best. I fail to see why anyone would be against it.

Precisely, its like the brexit vote, no one but no one actually knew all the variables, people just trusted the opinion of the leaders. Now the outcomes are known those leaders have as well.......................

You make a valid point and while there is nothing wrong in people putting their faith in leaders, I have lost faith in our leaders to get it right. So at the very least, I would like to read the Executive Summary from each of the proposals. I don't want to mirror the full marking process that should have been undertaken but a read through of the exec summary followed by the occasional dip into the full text to flesh out certain parts is about a couple of hours work, much less time than it would take me to drive to Newport and back.
