A couple of evenings ago, I was at a business presentation given by David Buttress owner of the Dragons. I was struck by his approach to running a business. He emphasised how important it was to have a clear business goal and how everyone should understand that and work together to achieve it. That very much reminded me of what Huw Jenkins said. He set out some of the vital ingredients for how he believed a business should be run. These included everyone in the business being given information in order to gain understanding , which should lead lead to increased motivation. I think that certainly the first of these two could be put under the label of 'Transparency'. I know that many County supporters for a long time have called for greater transparency.
He took questions from the floor and I asked him if he thought that in the future there could be greater 'togetherness' of operational matters between the two sports Clubs. He asked Ben (?) from the Dragons to answer the question. The response was in the affirmative. I also put to Mr Buttress the obvious fact that that the County played more home games than the Dragons. The implication being that maybe the County disproportionately brought in income to the Dragons. From this question it struck me that as a main income generating Client of the Dragons, it should be able to carry significant commercial negotiating 'clout' to areas like charges made to the County for use of Dragon facilities and how those 'contracted in' facilities, such as provided by the Bisley suite, could be influenced towards what the County needed. I'm sure Huw Jenkins will not fail to recognise the opportunities here, which may not have been fully exploited in the past.

5I'm not 100 percent sure, but I also think that I read somewhere that he said his mother was a single-parent family living in South Wales, he also said how the lessons from his mother have stuck with him through life.
